柴油发电机组为消除曲轴扭振，康明斯柴油机在曲轴前端安装扭转减振器，减振器的选用是根据柴油机的额定功率和额定转速来确定的。B、C系列采用橡胶扭转减振器，N、K系列采用硅油扭转减振器。减振器能使曲轴的扭转幅限制在0.2°的范围内。带轮和减振器用螺钉固定在一起。在康明斯N、K系列柴油机上的减振器上刻有气门和喷油嘴进行调整所必需的记号，装配时不能错位，必须对正。有些康明斯柴油机还装有2个减振器即双减震器。
