柴油发电机的气门顶杆在气门导管中往复运动，其表面经过磨光和热处理提高耐磨性。杆端和摇臂接触，承受敲击和摩擦，杆断需淬火提高硬度和耐磨性。气门导管则可保证气门的运动导向，是气门与气门座或气门座圈正确贴合，同时将气门杆接受的热量部分地传给气缸盖。气门杆端的形状决定弹簧座的固定方式。康明斯柴油机采用锁夹固定，如图3-5所示。进、排气门杆尾部的环槽用来与锁块内圈的凸起相稳配，锁块外锥面卡在弹簧做的锥形孔中，气门弹簧的弹力顶在弹簧座上，将锁块卡死在弹簧座的锥孔中。顶置气门在气门杆尾端常切有一小槽，装入一挡圈，以防气门杆尾端或气门弹簧损坏时气门掉入气缸。
